Manhattan Loft
|
|
Located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan,
this renovated loft has a view over the Museum
of Natural History to Central Park. Two small apartments were combined into one, creating
open spaces that flow seamlessly into one another.
The
island counter top resembles an abstract reclining figure (above).

Random width old growth pine flooring is combined with an
irregular stone hearth and rough stone bookcase tops. This stone was
selected for its similarities to the rock outcroppings in nearby Central
Park

Furniture & Interior Design

|
The interior design features custom
designed sofas and rugs combined with vintage and modern pieces. Prototypes of the "Otter" cocktail table and
"Tulip" table can be seen in the photos above right, above left,
and below right.

Custom Kitchen
The kitchen island contains a built-in oven, wine
refrigerator and microwave. One end of the island is rounded, with a
custom-made half-circle cabinet door that opens to reveal a small trash bin
with storage shelves below. The eye-shaped opening in the counter top
will house a glass lid that can be removed to drop trash into the bin
below. The maple island, cherry dining and walnut bar tops are
finished with high-gloss polyurethane.

The East wall, not
subject to preservation regulations, was completely opened up with fixed
